Links for the Class of 1959

Please note: The “Class of 1959 refers to the graduating year.
It assumes that all students finished their five years at the school.

In modern terminology, the “Class of YYYY” is the year you would/could/should
have completed year 12 (even if you were only at the school briefly, for a short time).

You are in the Class of 1959 if, at any time
  • during 1955, you were in First Year, but off site, at Highgate PS in Bulwer Street, Highgate
  • during 1956, you were in Second Year on site at 65 Woodsome Street, Mount Lawley
  • during 1957, you were in Third Year on site at 65 Woodsome Street, Mount Lawley
1955-9: Mount Lawley High School
1960 onwards: Mount Lawley Senior High School

Students of the Class of 1959 by final form
Many of us seem to remember the last form class we were in at high school.
If you can remember the form class you were in, let me know and I'll add it.
I’ve entered the details for 3N from 1957. You can see them here.

Reunions for the Class of 1959

Inside every older person is a younger person wondering,
“What the heck happened?”

This year (2010): This year is 55 years since Old 55 started in 1955.

The Class of 1959 (aka Old 55) meets informally every year at 5:55 p.m. on 5 May at Zak’s Bar, Dianella Hotel, 164 Alexander Drive, Dianella. The date and time was chosen as “all the fives” to represent 1955, the year of the first intake of students to Mount Lawley SHS. Most people turn up nearer to 7:00. Most people stay for less than three hours. The evening usually attracts from 20 to 50 ex-students. There are no speeches and there is no organisation. Mingle! The evening bears no resemblance to school reunions as portrayed on TV and in films.

Students of any year are welcome to join us.

Class of 1972

Some students from the Class of 1972 always join us. They are also “Old 55” as they were born in 1955. Most of these students turn 55 this year. Happy birthday!

*Why are all lists incomplete?

It is the nature of lists that they usually represent a moment in time. They may be correct and complete at the time that they are created, but the The Class of 1959 represents a five year time span. Students enrol. Students leave. But they are for all time, a part of the Class of 1959
