Bremer River - pleasant flatwater paddle in national park with much birdlife - distance upstream paddleable depends on the level of water that has built up behind the sandbar at the mouth of the estuary, but usually to Peter's Creek Road. - Wellstead Estuary can be windy and shallow in places - a return paddle unless you have 4WD access via North Landing Road or Peter's Creek Road.

Gairdner River - pleasant flatwater paddle in pristine national park with some cliffs, abundant birdlife and fish - more scenic than the Bremer River - more varied - distance upstream paddleable depends on the level of water that has built up behind the sandbar at the mouth of the estuary - for the return paddle put in near Quaalup Homestead: paddle downstream (2.5 hrs) then return upstream with the wind behind you, 1.5 hrs. - 4WD is needed if taking out down near the sandbar at estuary mouth - estuary can be windy and shallow in places - can paddle upstream as well from put-in, almost to the river crossing near Quaalup Homestead with enough water behind the sandbar far downstream Quaalup Homestead, a historic property, has a range of modern accomodation at very reasonable prices.
